Two of my close friends from Calgary came to visit with their little ones Tai and Sydney. It was a fun filled week (although a little chaotic some evenings). The kids had a blast playing together and I had a great visit.
We did a little trip out to the Cape and had a challenging day at the beach. I think I need to admit that really I need 2 adults with my 2 at the beach. Max managed to eat a decent size rock while Sadie took off down the beach. I was trying to give her a little more space and trust she would only go so far, but just as I was thinking "okay that's a bit too far" she took off at a full run. I chased her pretty far until some people stopped her and I caught up.
Meanwhile Max was crying and making strange wheezing noises, we just packed it up and left. He seemed to be okay after some water, so I'm still not sure what happened but he was certainly putting a lot of rocks in his mouth (try as I might to keep them out). Then as we were leaving Sadie stooped down and picked up a handful of sand, ate it and said "there, now do we have to go home cause I ate sand?" All I could do was laugh and tell her "no we were going home because you ran away". She is a funny kid.
We finished our day trip with lunch on a grass strip in a parking lot. We had visions of a cute Cape cafe, chatting with the girls and the children sitting quietly eating. But as we all know trips with the kids are never quite that and both the boys fell asleep 5 minutes from the beach, so we got takeout and ate on a really nice grass strip next to the car in the parking lot. It was the perfect end to the day.
